Rumours swept Wall Street that Dell Computer is considering a takeover bid for Data General (DG), prompting DG shares to rise by over 10 per cent late on Monday.
Neither company commented on the rumours but Dell could be interested in DG?s servers, Microsoft Windows NT-based business and clustering technology, especially after Compaq boosted its server and clustering assets through its acquisition of Digital Equipment.
