Last week, services company EDS launched World Cup Online, the systems that will run behind next year's global football tournament staged in France.
The systems comprise a mix of database and Internet technology to provide both an external information source via the Web site at www.france98.com and an Intranet information network for the media running between the 10 stadiums in use during the tournament.
A Sybase database will hold the core information, running on Hewlett-Packard servers and distributed to the various sites on France Telecom's network.
