If, like most other people, you spend more time planning your summer holiday than your career, a new service for executives may be right up your street.
The Change Manifesto, founded by three London Business School graduates, is a career planning service dedicated to helping high flyers.
Former IBM Global Services management consultant Barbara Ex, one of the service's founders, believes that too many IT professionals let themselves down during the recruitment and interview process because they lack enthusiasm for the jobs for which they are applying.
"So often it's about placing people into jobs because they're available but not necessarily because they're satisfying for them," Ex said.
"The answer to their search is to be more focused than less. The temptation is to say: 'It's a tough job market - I should take anything I find'. But when you apply for a position with that attitude it's devaluing yourself and your skills.
"People with that attitude are less powerful in interviews and undersell themselves. With a scattergun approach, they get discouraged because they're going for jobs they don't really want and they still don't get them."
The Clarity Programme costs £1,700 per person and starts with a two-day facilitated workshop with up to 15 other attendees to help delegates decide what their dream job would be and how to get it.
This is followed by 12 individual coaching sessions over three months to keep delegates on track to achieve a series of short, medium and long-term goals.
"Some people come in very clear about what they want and it's about tightening-up that vision. Other people really come in with no idea. For them the process of forming a vision is a revelation," Ex said.
Karen Hine, a web design consultant for 12 years, signed up to the programme when she started to feel stuck in a rut with her job.
"I started to lack any enthusiasm and felt I was plodding along. And because I wasn't enjoying it I lost confidence," she said. "I thought that maybe going on the course would lead to a change in career."
As a result, Hine realised that a boost of creativity was all she needed. "If I had really sat down and thought about it by myself I probably could have done it myself, but having the coach forces you to be accountable," she said.
"Before I went on the course I made excuses to justify why I was feeling miserable. But after the course you're on a high. It gives you a real boost of self-confidence."

- Start from your future and your dreams rather than your past - and remember, it is not about your skills.
- Think about your values and what is important to you in your work. For example, if leadership is important to you do not work for a company where you end up as a cog in a big wheel.
- If you have a dream and you think it is unrealistic, tell other people and get their feedback. You will be amazed at the resources they have that could help you on your way.
