Orange has shrugged off stiff competition from BT, Deutsche Telekom and France Telecom to win one of two new mobile licences in Switzerland. The other winner is Diax, a consortium of Swiss utilities and SBC, the US telco.
Orange's bid partners include Viag, Swissphone Engineering and the Swiss Cantonal Bank of Vaud. The operator will use the GSM 1800 frequency to offer services to the region.
