Vantive is buying privately held Wayfarer Communications for $11.5 million to boost its helpdesk software family. It will use the acquisition's technology to build Vantive Vista, which will gather user defined information from across the enterprise and deliver it to users in real time in summarised form. Vantive will issue 179,000 shares of common stock in exchange for all of Wayfarer's outstanding shares.
