Deutsche Telekom said it would mount a legal challenge to last week's decision, setting prices ceilings that the telco can charge rivals for network connections. The German Post Ministry set city zone interconnection charges of 1.9pfennigs a minute between 9am and 9pm, and 1.24pfennigs off-peak. These tariffs are far lower than those demanded by Deutsche Telekom.
The announcement was made as Europe's biggest telco posted its interim results. Pre-tax income increased to DM3.6 billion compared to DM2.7 billion last year. Revenues increased by 7.3 per cent to DM33 billion.
