The Onion (www.theonion.com)
If only the news was really this funny. The Onion started off as an irreverent college rag, but its move to the Web two years ago has won it a wider audience. It's a shame the stories are still very US-biased, but the jokes still work. Imagine your local paper landing on the doorsmat with the headline: "Local couple celebrates birth of son with ritual genital mutilation", or an update to the Clinton scandal that purports, "Special prosecutor Kenneth Starr publicly taunted Bill Clinton on Tuesday with the humiliating 'sitting in a tree' song - 'Bill and Monica / Sitting in a tree / K-I-S-S-I-N-G,'." Sometimes puerile but always tongue-in-cheek, The Onion tells it like it is - sort of. "Microsoft patents ones and zeroes".
