Lotus Development has confirmed it has laid off 50 US staff, in what is believed to be a review of its staffing levels. The company, which was acquired by IBM three years ago, now has 8,500 employees, compared to 4,500 in 1995. It has hired 1,000 people in the past year, mainly in sales and services, although it did lay off 50 other staff three months.
