At Internet World in Los Angeles this week, IBM supplemented its ecommerce offerings with a range of services for small business as well as large enterprises.
The opening day of Internet World was dominated by the industry?s giants this year, as IBM and AT&T both rolled out new services.
IBMs new offerings include E-business Accelerator, a Web based consultancy service, and E-business Integrator, middleware to connect Web servers to back end systems.
E-business Accelerator is a Web site for executives at small and medium sized businesses, providing them with information to help them make ecommerce decisions.
For instance, the site provides a tool that guides users through a set of questions to determine whether or not a certain product is well suited for sale on the Web. E-business Accelerator also allows users to communicate with IBM consultants online.
Basic access to E-business Accelerator will be priced $300 a year. But full usage, including the ability to ask IBM consultants up to five questions, will cost $15,000 per user and per year.
IBM Commerce Integrator is a middleware product designed to connect IBM?s own Net.Commerce Web servers to back end systems and enterprise data. The software is based on IBM?s MQSeries messaging software. IBM said Commerce Integrator will connect to more than 35 platforms, including ERP systems such as SAP R/3.
Other IBM ecommerce announcements include Skills Transformation Services, customised training plans to help businesses acquire the Internet know-how they need. The training plans combine Internet based training, CD-Rom and classroom training, and start at $15,000.
Most of the new services will be available immediately worldwide. E-business Accelerator will be launched in July in North America, with a European version planned for 2000.
