A plethora of directory services were announced on Tuesday, with vendors emphasising their products? ability to manage third party network services.
Siemens, which claims to sell the most popular directory in Europe, has begun shipping its Dirxmetahub meta directory. The offering combines application and email directories into a single database and is able to integrate linked directories into the Dirx server as global entries.
This enables the Dirxmetahub to identify, filter and transforms all information within a global directory entry, and consolidate it.
Control Data also announced it had improved the search and indexing algorithms of its Aphelion Directory, which, it attests, can manage hundreds of millions of entries on one or multiple servers.
Gary Therens, Control Data?s marketing manager, said: "Aphelion is over eight times faster than anything on the market for substring searches, which include the partial name lookups that people across big organisations do everyday."
Elsewhere, Zoomit also launched its Meta Manager offering, which is aimed at Lotus Domino R5 users and will ship in the third quarter of this year. The product enables other directories to be integrated into Domino, so that Lotus Domino Administrator can become the central control point.
