Lucent has established a speech unit to develop a range of speech recognition, personal agent and text to speech synthesis technologies.
The unit, called Lucent Speech Solutions, also announced the latest version of its text to speech synthesis platform, the Lucent TTS engine. It is also working on a compact PCI speech processing high density board.
Lucent has been working on speech technology for a while and in December began distributing natural language speech products with Unisys and developing handheld devices with Intel.
