Computer Associates (CA) is to integrate the CiscoWorks2000 service management solution into its Unicenter TNG network monitoring and management suite.
Cisco released its service management solution this month. The product, part of the CiscoWorks suite, checks service levels in wide-area connections and networks. CA will release the integrated solution in June.
The integration will enable any alerts or threshold violations in Cisco devices to be sent to the Unicenter console.
"CiscoWorks2000 is there for their devices," said Michael Kerman, business manager for network and Internet management at CA. Kerman did not specify whether any other Cisco network management products would be integrated into Unicenter, but he said the two companies' product lines complemented each other.
"Where Cisco is focused on bringing together data, voice and video and providing a measurable and manageable service, which is what we try to do, our products are focused on the applications and networks," Kerman said.
Meanwhile, CA has teamed up with 20 application service providers (ASPs) to supply its Unicenter TNG and NetworkIT network and systems management software to small and medium-sized businesses over the Internet.
