BMC Software moved into the red in its fiscal first quarter as a result of one-off acquisition charges from its purchase of backup and recovery software supplier, DataTools Inc, and the OpenAviator product set from Sento Technical Innovations. The systems management supplier saw turnover increase by 26 per cent to $158.4 million, on losses of $10.6 million, after taking a $57.3 million hit.
