Cable & Wireless Communications has acquired the data networks and cabling subsidiaries of the UK's Anite Group, formerly Cray Electronics, for #47 million.
The deal covers Anite Networks, a network integration and support business, and Grant & Taylor, a structured cabling company.
Anite Networks targets corporates with voice and data network integration services. It boasts 650 ongoing data services contracts with 109 large managed networks. It is based in Watford with a 320-strong workforce. It resells a range of systems from Cisco, Madge Networks, Intel, US Robotics and BT.
Grant & Taylor provides structured cabling systems and service such as the project management and installation of cabling systems in buildings. The unit is also based in Watford and employs 200 employees.
