Cincom Systems has acquired the assets to Objectshare's Visualworks family of Smalltalk development tools, including its development and support staff, for $3 million.
Under the terms of the deal, Objectshare will hand over all intellectual property rights to Visualworks, its predecessor products, and offerings still under development, including Opentalk, but will retain the rights to provide training and consultancy to existing customers and accounts that it is currently in negotiations with.
Eugene Goda, Objectshare's president and chief executive, said: "This transaction enables us to focus our resources on Objectshare's object oriented training and consulting business. Moving forward, our focus is to expand the development and marketing of our training and services in partnership with leading Integrated Development Environment providers."
