Yahoo and Kmart are expected to announce a free co-branded Internet access today that will borrow from the Freeserve model.
Kmart confirmed that an ecommerce strategy announcement is in the diary for today, but refused to comment further. Yahoo declined to comment.
The deal would rapidly expand Yahoo's customer base, targeting the 96 million Americans who are still not on the Internet. Kmart has been rolling out Internet kiosks in its stores across the US for several months.
