Microsoft's board has approved its sixth stock split in the past decade, giving shareholders an additional share for every stock held on 22 November.
This will increase the total number of Microsoft's stocks to 1.2 billion outstanding and will make it "more accessible to a broader base of investors", said chief financial officer Mike Brown.
