Two top UK executives from IT vendors have jumped ship to join Security Dynamics.
The recruitment of Novell's EMEA vice president, Tom Schuster, and Mark Powell, formerly European marketing chief at UB Networks, are important scalps for the security specialist.
"The main factor that made me choose Security Dynamics is that I wanted to get out of selling tin (hardware), where the market is commoditised and the margins are squeezed, and into a mentally stimulating environment," commented Powell, who takes up the role of European marketing director.
"My former background was in software development and this move brings me back to it but in a critical part of the market."
Schuster takes control of the company's European operations as vice president for EMEA, which he sees as a step up from his job at Novell, heading up the European sales and marketing.
"Security Dynamics has been a major force in several niche markets for remote access and data protection. Now these areas are combining," he said.
One of the key strategies that Schuster will be driving forward is the provision of end-to-end system security through a single sign-on, based on technology gained through the recent acquisition of Dynasoft.
