Computer Associates (CA) has moved version 2.0 of its OpenIngres relational database into beta for general release later this year. Despite speculation that CA was decommitting from its Ingres acquisition since it started hyping its Jasmine object database, the software giant has spent enough research and development money to increase the database?s scalability and to add support for Unix and Windows NT clustering, row level locking, parallel backup and restore, and in-server replication.
