Novell said its long awaited clustering technology will appear on 30 September, but with a less ambitious plan for system failover than previously outlined.
Previously codenamed Orion phase one, Novell High Availability Server for Netware supports two active Netware 4.11 servers in a cluster. Additional servers will be supported in future versions.
Support for IP based applications allows IP addresses to be automatically migrated from one server to another.
Said Stewart Shirk, vice president of product management: ?Application availability is more important to customers than failover. We?re not going to do something that hardware will do with Merced. We have to be realistic rather than have something that could be obsolete in 18 months.?
The server was developed with clustering specialist, Vinca.
