Analysts are giving a thumbs up to the acquisition of US-based Rand McNally Media Services Group by a Scottish company specialising in outsourcing services for the IT and comms industries.

McQueen intends to employ all 350 Rand staff, taking the total McQueen workforce to well over 1,000. The new company, trading under McQueen?s name, is expected to achieve turnover of #100m oer annum, about $160m. Rand McNally, parent of the the Nashville, Tennessee-based Media Services Group, is retaining a ?significant, minority investment in the enlarged company?.
The company specialises in integrated manufacturing and ?fulfilment programmes?. These are the provision of a gamut of services, primarily to companies looking to set up in the European market, including manufacturing, printing, media duplication, assembly, distribution, technical support and direct marketing. The company?s client list is impressive, including Adobe Systems, Apple, HP, Microsoft, Motorola and SCO.
Rand McNally supplies outsourcing services to the US IT and entertainment industries, specialising in electronic commerce, multilingual marketing, and software manufacture and distribution. Rand has made significant investments in Internet-based services for transactions, order processing and e-mail.
Media Services president, James Thaden, said ?[By] combining Media Services? facilities and skills with McQueen?s existing operations, management ability and ambition... we are confident that the long-term strategic plans for global client service best suits the needs of all interested constituents.?
Gray commented: ?The integration of the Media Services Group business within the McQueen portfolio is the latest stage in our strategy for growth... driven by [our] desire to expand... activities in new markets.?
