A survey of almost 300,000 companies, carried out by Dun & Bradstreet showed almost half of agricultural companies paid bills early - either on or before time - compared to a national average of a little over 30%. D&B senior analyst Phillip Mellor said: 'Farmers are not being given credit. Their clients are applying pressure either to get payment upfront or chasing up bad debts in a way they might not do with businesses in a more healthy sector.'
