The Sony Corporation has turned in pre-tax profits of Yen91.88 billion for its last financial quarter, compared to a profit of Y43.76 billion last year. Turnover rose by 22 per cent from last year's figure of Y1.172 trillion.
Sony said weakness in the Yen had helped the company's export drive. The electronics sector accounted for the lion's share of turnover, while the Playstation and other computer peripherals showed fast growth.
Successful films helped to improve its formerly troubled Hollywood studio venture, Sony Pictures.
