Symantec has bought Intel's antivirus business for $18 million (#10.6 million) but the move comes as the utility software vendor announced it is cutting 5% of its workforce due to poor retail sales. Symantec will acquire Intel's Landesk Virus Protect and its user base of 18,000 corporate customers. Symantec will also license Intel systems management technology, which it will integrate into its own products.
