Maxdata UK, which has sold monitors locally for the last two years, launched itself into the Intel based notebook business at the Computer Trade Show today.
The company has sold notebooks into the German market for some years, but is targeting its UK machines, sold under the Artist brand, at dealers in the small and medium sized market.
Maxdata is part of German retail giant, Metro AG, which at one time also owned Vobis and Peacock. Peacock was sold last year, while Vobis, which still has several hundred stores in Germany, is now up for sale. Maxdata, on the other hand, is set to float on the German stock market in June.
At the end of last year, two banks agreed to form a holding company called Divag to mastermind Maxdata?s initial public offering and the Vobis sell off.
