WorkgroupMail 8.1 provides integrated antivirus and anti-spam protection, as well as content filtering and email archiving.
It also comes with free user licences for Softalk Organizer so that customers can use Internet Explorer to read their email over the internet.
WorkgroupMail has an optional subscription-based antivirus protection that uses an automatic self-updating antivirus engine provided by BitDefender.
The software costs £75 for a five-user licence, £145 for 10 users, £495 for 50 users with volume discounts at less than £1 per user for licenses for 1000+ users.
Simon Bates, joint chief executive at Softalk, said: "The new version of WorkgroupMail is designed to make it easier and cheaper for SMEs to manage their email and protect themselves from viruses and spam. It costs less than Microsoft Exchange."
