Adaptec CEO Larry Boucher has said that the company is to return to its traditional strengths such as workstation and server I/O and renew its commitment to the growth areas of CD-R software, RAID solutions and networking products. To bolster his claims he announced the completion of Adaptec's plans to launch BroadLogic, a satellite networking spinoff and also gave details of two strategic alliances to broaden its fibre channel products.
With Jaycor Networks (JNI), the company is to provide investment in return for a technology transfer and will also enter into a joint manufacturing and sales relationship. In a similar deal it will gain access to the external storage systems developed by Chaparral Technologies.
