Hitachi is moving its PC operations in the US over to its subsidiary company, Hitachi Data Systems, as it retreats from the US retail market.
?The operations, products, and channels of Hitachi PC Corporation US will be phased into Hitachi Data Systems with emphasis on PC servers,? Hitachi said in a statement. ?Accordingly, over time, the Hitachi PC name will be superceded by the Hitachi Data Systems designation.?
Last week, Hitachi announced it had bought out partner Electronic Data Systems? stake in HDS, making it a wholly owned subsidiary (see 'Newswire' 29 January). Executives said the aim of the move would be to make more of Hitachi?s product line available through HDS.
