Bill Gates, Microsoft's chairman, will put his own unique spin on the Java market on Wednesday when he gives the keynote speech at the Software Development 97 West developers conference in San Francisco, right across the road from the JavaOne exhibition. He is expected to announce new Java application programming interfaces and class libraries, an upgrade to the company's Java Virtual Machine and a Java ISV support programme for its Application Foundation Classes.
