Hitachi Semiconductor said it will stop making 16Mbit Dram memory chips by next spring and shift production to 64Mbit devices for PCs and cameras. Hitachi's announcement comes at the same time as research by In-Stat, which claims that there will be "no growth" in the semiconductor market in 1998.
