A battle royal has broken out between a Wall Street analyst and Lucent, causing its share price to fall by $5 during yesterday, closing at $55.
Analysts Smith Barney claimed that there were questions over Lucent?s accounting methods and where it made its money.
But Lucent hit back and said the report was flawed and full of inaccuracies.
Barney Smith had recommended that investors move their money out of Lucent and into rivals including Ericsson.
The row centres around the potentially lucrative wireless network market in the US. Lucent faces tough competition from Ericcson in its home market.
