America Online has announced it will appoint George Vrandenburg as general counsel from 1 March. Vrandenburg will be "kept busy" in his new office, particularly with getting used to the technology - he only got introduced to the service a year ago when his wife became a member.
Part of Vrandenburg's duties will include making the Internet and all the services that bolt onto it simpler for politicians in Washington to understand. He said: "It's very important for us to be understood in Washington.
There are a lot of people there who are afraid of the Internet. They don't understand it."
