Hewlett Packard announced two Fibre Channel technologies today. It now supports connections of up to 10 kilometres between Fibre Channel hubs, allowing storage to be moved to alternate sites.
It also released Fibre Channel Manager software, a Web based tool for system administration. This enables network managers to administer hubs remotely and will proactively manage the use of ports on the hubs to ensure traffic flow during failure or maintenance.
