Standholders in the ?British Business? section of the Comdex show in Las Vegas were pleased with the event and plan a bigger presence at the front of the show next year.
According to Jolyon Potter, overseas trade director of the Computing Services & Software Association (CSSA), half of the exhibitors in the UK section have rebooked for Comdex/Fall 1998. ?The UK group has a huge stand next year, near the front of the show,? he said.
The UK contingent was pleased to see personalities including Microsoft chief executive Bill Gates visiting the booths, Potter said. ?Most were very happy here and the multimedia section near us pulled crowds, even though the competition [for Comdex] at the E3 show is doing well. We have had no problem selling our spaces.?
The international and multimedia sections of Comdex were held at the Sands Expo centre, the second largest area of the show. Building work at the main area, the Las Vegas Convention Centre, will add to the capacity of Comdex and Potter said the extension has already sold out. Organiser Softbank Comdex has not released details about show attendance but sources claimed over 215,000 visitors attended the event.
