Junglee's new virtual database technology (VDB) enables simplified, direct queries on the Web by linking relational data using Extensible Markup Language (XML).VDB technology creates a relational database from disparate sources on the Web in XML, which allows item-specific Web tagging. VDBs permit searching for information over related sites using sequence queries rather than keyword searches over the entire Web. "(VDB) essentially turns a number of functionally related sites into one virtual database of content," said Evan Quinn, an analyst at IDC. Yahoo recently announced that its new Yahoo Computers resource site will use VDB technology to provide comparison shopping online. VDBs are also being used in job recruitment applications.
