Following its recent acquisition of part of Compuserve, America Online has done a deal with rival Microsoft to promote its service and some of its content on Microsoft's Active Desktop front end to Windows.
Windows and Internet Explorer users will be able to sign-up to America Online from the desktop, as well as view some original content. Microsoft will make available its online magazine Slate to America Online users.
