3M, maker of paper and electronic Post-It notes, has filed a writ accusing Microsoft of trademark infringement. It claims Microsoft's Office 97 software includes a facility for creating computer representations of yellow adhesive notes, which look "very similar" to Post-It notes. 3M says this could cause confusion that could damage 3M and that it amounts to unauthorised use of a trademark.
