3Com subsidiary US Robotics has lost its legal case against French company Pen Point over the product name 'Pilot'. Pen Point makes a product called Pen Pilot, while USR sells the handheld computer, the Pilot.
If the French claim to the term Pilot, which is trademarked, is upheld around Europe, USR could be forced to remove any products which use the word in their brand names.
Could be used for everything from search-and-rescue robots to wearable tech
