Two senior figures in the UK networking industry have teamed up to start their own reseller company.
The heads of the new company - called International Business Channels - are Bill Butt, the former pan-European director of Shiva, and Tony Bassett, a senior Bay Networks executive, who set up Performance Technologies before it was acquired by Bay.
Butt, who left Shiva on 26 September, said: ?We?re going to bring US products into European markets. There are a lot of hi-tech networking products, Internet products and remote access products which need a European presence.?
He said he and Bassett were recruiting companies already and had signed some prospects at the recent Networld Interop show in Atlanta.
IBC has opened an office with eight people at a location near Staines and will offer marketing, pre-sales and post-sales support, he said.
?We?re floating the concept of catch ?em and skin ?em,? said Butt. ?We will find the products in the US while we?ll leave it to our salesforce to put them through European distribution?.
