
Toshiba attempts Internet software sales (150)

Registered Toshiba customers can choose software titles from the company?s Web site, pay by credit card and then download the application directly, according to the Japanese company.
Some Toshiba hardware resellers make more margin through their software sales and will not be pleased that one of their suppliers has become a competitor, it has emerged.
The company has big plans for its electronic software outlet and wants to sell 10,000 units of 50 software titles by the end of 1998, said the company.
Its customers can register by sending personal information and credit card details to Toshiba, the company said.
