Search engine company Inktomi has opened an office in Surrey, UK as it follows its rivals into Europe.
Rival search enginer supplier Excite opened a London office last summer and Yahoo already had a presence in the UK before that. Inktomi hopes its latest round of financing, which reaped $12 million, will allow it to invest in global expansion.
Inktomi provides search engine capabilities to corporate clients, along with network cache software, rather than appealing to the Internet consumer market.
