BMC Software has turned in year end revenues up 31 per cent to $428.9 million, on net earnings that rose 55 per cent to $163.9 million or $1.60 per share. This excluded a one-time charge for acquired research and development of seven cents per share in fiscal 1996, and 22 cents in fiscal 1997. The systems management software supplier has also appointed Thomas Tinsley, Baan's president and chief operating officer, to its board of directors.
