Seagate Technology has promoted William Watkins, formerly head of the company's disk drive operations, to the position of chief operating officer and appointed four new vice presidents as it restructures its management following the removal of its chief executive, Alan Shugart, last month. Stephen Luczo was recently appointed as the new chief executive. The company also said it would invest $30 million in a new disk drive research centre.
