Hewlett-Packard is closing down one of its facilities, as part of its drive to cut costs.
HP will close its semiconductor manufacturing operations in Corvallis, Oregon, by the end of next April.
Some 440 employees will be offered other jobs within the company or will take voluntary redundancy. HP hopes up to 2,500 of its overall workforce will take the redundancy option.
