IBM?s second version of Opendoc, due by the end of the third quarter, will include a bridge to Sun?s Java Beans to ensure that Beans-based components work seamlessly with Opendoc-based applications.
But IBM, together with partners such as Apple, Sunsoft and Netscape, is also working on a specification that would merge the best qualities of both products. Javadoc is not expected before this summer at the earliest, due to uncertainties about how such an offering would be implemented.
