The Open Group has now started its collaborative technology development project to integrate the Distributed Computing Environment?s (DCE) security mechanisms with Microsoft?s ActiveX core technology.
ActiveX will also be made available under different flavours of Unix and is likely to be subject to validation, testing and branding programmes in future.
Sponsors of the project unsurprisingly include such Microsoft friends as Digital Equipment, Hewlett-Packard, Siemens-Nixdorf and Software AG.
Joseph de Feo, president and chief executive of the Open Group, said the organisation would issue a pre-structured technology proposal to address interoperability between DCE and Corba.
