Extending its network management capabilities, Cabletron has agreed to acquire Oasys Group, a telecomms software and management company.
Oasys produces management software for telecomms devices and connections over fibre optic networks. Its TL1/Cmip Gateway is used to help migrate from legacy telecomms environments managed with TL1 (transaction language)to those controlled by standard TMN (Telecommunications Management Network)and CMIP.
Cabletron hopes to integrate the Oasys TL1/CMIP Gateway with its Spectrum enterprise management software. Under the $9 million agreement Cabletron will exchange 240,000 shares of post-split common stock for all outstanding Oasys shares.
