Seagate Software has bought Eastman Software's Storage Management Group in a deal worth $10 million (#6.13 million). Both companies have been working closely with Microsoft on the development of NT 5.0. Eastman Software's SMG co-developed the HSM (Hierarchical Storage Management) applet with Microsoft for inclusion in NT 5.0. Seagate Software developed the backup applet and System Disaster Recovery utility that is also expected in NT 5.
