The Santa Cruz Operation has started shipping version 2.1.2 of its Unixware operating system, which it claims is optimised for Internet-based computing because it includes a Web server and authoring tools from Netscape. It also incorporates SCO/Arcserve/OpenLite back-up and restore software to reduce system downtime.
The software house has also unveiled SCO ReliantHA clustering software for up to four nodes running Unixware 2.1, and SCO ReliantDLM to provide high availability and failover capabilities.
