French start-up i-Mediation is offering software that significantly reduces the development time for Ecommerce Web sites that would like to offer services from affiliate companies.
The i-Mediation software is designed to simplify the process of setting up these relationships by interfacing with all types of merchant catalogue systems available on the market today and handling the redirection of orders from the affiliate to the host. This gives the host site a chain of virtual resellers that is easy to manage and easy to deploy.
Company founder Sven Lung got the idea for the software from Amazon.com's affiliate programme, which offers owners of small Web sites and homepages the chance to recommend books to visitors which can then be ordered directly via the affiliate.
i-Mediation software can be deployed where one site uses many distributed resellers. It can also be used by portal sites which want to give many small merchants the ability to offer their wares to a single audience.
The package is available now in two versions: one for portals offering a hosting service to small merchants, for $100,000 (#59,000); and one for merchants who want to set up a network of affiliates, at $50,000 (#29,500).
